What is Filler?

Non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid is the most popular injectable filler in the world. It was introduced into Canada in 1998 by Dr Claudio DiLorenzi and proven safe in millions of patients worldwide. Since your face is as individual as you are, we need to design your therapy according to your skin’s health and appearance. In addition to resorbable fillers like Juvéderm^®, Restylane^® Perlane^®, Fine Lines^® , Teosyal^®, Belotero^®, Voluma^® and Volbella^® we offer semi-permanent ones like Radiesse^® which is calcium hydroxylapetite, Sculptra^® or polylactic acid, Bellafill^® or polymethylmethacrylate beads, and Selphyl^® or platelet rich plasma (your own) filler. Depending on the type of product chosen and the location of injection, correction may be present for up to 18-24 months. . Semi-permanent fillers and plasma-derived procedures help the body produce its own firming and subtle volume-correction takes longer to appear but is longer lasting up to 2 years.

What will the Procedure Involve?

If the solution chosen is resorbable filler, then you will not need prior testing, nor any prior work up. We will ask that you not take anti-inflammatory agents for a week prior to injection. The procedure is carried out in the office. Numbing of the lips and is often required due their sensitivity, and if cannulae are used, at the entry point, which will require needle pricks which are not very painful, nor is medication required afterwards for pain. You may return to work the next day without problem. Slight redness may persist at the injection sites over-night. Some swelling in the area may also persist for a week to 10 days making social planning prior to treatment a good option.

Your Final Outcome

In a week the swelling will be less noticeable and the appearance will be visible as volume enhancement is well established. The tired looking areas will be revitalized and the hollows less noticeable, with natural results by 6 weeks. Do call the office at two weeks if the final appearance is in need of touching up to balance or further enhance the correction, at your discretion.
